Burke Scholarship Fund

The Charleston Digital Corridor will donate a portion of the proceeds raised to the Burke Scholarship Fund. This donation will be earmarked for a student seeking higher education in a technology related field.

FROM THE MAYOR

Burke High School is the only public high school on the peninsula and enrolls over 700 students in grades seven through twelve and has a 13:1 student to teacher ratio. It serves a predominately African-American student population. The mission of Burke is to provide a challenging academic program and integrate school, family and community resources into the school. Burke has strong support from the community and partnerships with government, institutions of higher education, churches, businesses and nonprofit organizations.

I pledged the City's strong support for Burke. Each city department has made a commitment that aligns with the needs of the school and compliments Burke's plan to improve academic achievement. The City in partnership with community businesses is establishing a scholarship fund to benefit Burke high school students. One of the most pressing needs in higher education today is funding for scholarships. The Burke Scholarship Fund will allow deserving students to attain their educational goals.
